How Often Do You Compliment Others?

How do you feel when receiving compliments?

When someone comes up to you and gives you a compliment like:

"You look fit."
"Your design is amazing!"
"Wow, your son is so well-behaved."
"Thank you you're so generous!"
or any number of compliments, I'm sure you feel very happy.

Many of us often forget to give compliments to others to make their day. You can compliment people for anything that you feel is worthy of one.
It will

  • help spread positivity,
  • uplift your mood and
  • make the receiver feel good and often proud.

Today I made a conscious effort to dish our compliments to people who helped me and to those I thought needed to hear something positive about what they were doing.

I watched a CNN video about some research that was done on compliments in Japan. People were asked to learn and perform a task and were separated into three groups.

1st group - participants were complimented individually by an evaluator
2nd group - individuals saw others receive compliments
3rd group - asked to evaluate their own performance

When asked to repeat the exercise the next day, the group that received direct compliments performed significantly better.

Researchers discovered that to the brain, receiving compliments is a social reward equal to receiving money. Compliments also aid to consolidate skills during sleep.

Praise provides a memory boost to the brain.

Compliment your loved ones, your employees, anyone who is truly deserving.

FLATTERY WILL GET YOU EVERYWHERE!
