The curriculum is an important tool for our professional life; therefore it is important to take into account some aspects when writing it and keep it constantly updated.
It is important to indicate that the curriculum is a list of personal, biographical, academic, and work data that are offered to a third party to obtain a job; It can be said that it is the first impression during the job search, therefore, a well prepared CV will increase the chances of getting a job interview; That is why it is necessary to invest a little time in preparing it.
Currently with the growing popularization of online jobs, social networks and different digital media, the way in which a good resume is written has changed; now new tools have been created such as computer programs that help to prepare it.
Some aspects that should be taken into account when writing a good CV are the following:
- Synthesis and clarity in the text.
- Easy-to-read writing.
- Use of simple language and short sentences.
- Highlight relevant aspects, according to the job offer.
- Add cover letter.
- Present the information structured by categories.
- Choose an appropriate photograph.
- Include biographical and contact information.
- Review academic and employment information.
- Add complementary information.
- Save the chronological order in the information presented.
Taking into account the aforementioned aspects, I will show how to prepare a good curriculum vitae, through the Canva application.
We first access the website https://www.canva.com/
In the Templates section, in the Personal Use section, we select the option of Resumes, to choose between the different options of predesigned templates that this web page has, the one that best suits our requirements.
This can also be done by typing the word “resumes” in the search section.
Once we access, we choose the template, in order to start adding our information. In this case, we start with personal information, such as first and last name, professional profile, specialties, and photo.
Now we add contact information, work experience, and career preparation information.
And with that we have our curriculum vitae ready, to present it to any employer.
Remember that the aspects to consider are general, but we must adapt it to our requirements, the most important thing is to present the information in a clear and understandable way.
In addition to this, it is important to bear in mind that the curriculum is our letter of introduction to the world of work, and therefore, the best advertising tool. The more attractive the design, and the clearer and more organized the resume information is presented, the more opportunities there will be.
