Hardik Pandya was disappointed with India's total of 329 in the third ODI against England. But what was remarkable in Hardik's statement was the fact that India were in no position to even get to that total by the halfway mark during their innings.

There have been question marks over India's intent in ODI cricket especially at the top of the order in the powerplay and in the middle phase as well. The signs of a change in approach were finally visible in the series decider when Shikhar Dhawan started to go hard up top. But India's plans appeared to go for a toss when they lost their top three in three overs. Quite surprisingly, it was Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali who were causing damage on a day they were expected to be taken apart. India lost 126 in the final 10 overs on Friday (March 26) but their tactic of going pretty easy on the England spin attack perhaps cost them 25-30 odd runs. England won the match by six wickets to seal a 2-1 series victory and take 3-1 lead.

Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant added 99 off just 70 deliveries to reverse England's fortunes. India's young core have not shied away from challenges thrown at them. Hardik pulled off something very similar against Australia last December alongside Ravindra Jadeja. India appear to be willing to change their methods in 50-over cricket to fetch desired results. India won the series decider by nine wickets in the second ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday. India will look to add more runs to their score after winning the series in three games. The tourists will be hoping to breach 370 or 380 in the coming matches. The last time India reached such a total was in the third ODI against England in Delhi in 2009. India beat England by eight wickets with nine balls to spare in the 50th over . The match ended in a thrilling encounter with England winning by three wickets. The fourth ODI will be played at Old Recreation Park on Monday (Monday 1st July) in the final match of the series .
