Mashrafe bin Mortuza (born October 5, 1983 in Narail district) is one of the leading bowlers of the Bangladesh cricket team and captain of the One Day International. His nickname is 'Kaushik'. He is a right-handed batsman. His bowling style is right-handed medium pace bowler. Apart from the Bangladesh national team, he has also played in the Asia XI ODI team.

Mashrafe was born in the southwestern district of Narail in Bangladesh. Mashrafe got a chance to represent Bangladesh in the national team after playing only one match for the A team. He made his Test debut against Zimbabwe on November 8, 2001 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Khaled Mahmood also made his debut in the same match. The match remained unresolved due to rain. However, Mashrafe made his debut in his debut with 4 wickets for 106 runs. Grant Flower was his first victim. Interestingly, it was also Mashrafe's first first class match. He is the 31st player to have this rare feat and the third since 1899. Mashrafe made his ODI debut on November 23 of the same year with Fahim Muntasir and Tushar Imran. He suffered a knee injury during his personal third Test against England. As a result, he was forced out of cricket for almost two years. He had success in the second Test against England. He retired from the international T20 game on April 8, 2016 with the last T20 of the Bangladesh v Sri Lanka series. Mashrafe, known as Mash on the field, is the first Bangladeshi cricketer to retire as captain.
