World of Cricket community is organizing a contest series, one contest per week. Last week, we announced our 7th contest, World of Cricket Contest Series | Contest - 7 :: Bring back the past memories.
There are 13 participants this week. Looks like fellow steemians really like to remember the vintage Cricket moments
Thanks to everyone for participating in the contest. We have gone through every entry and It's great to see many quality posts. It was really hard to choose the best four.
Here are the winner of this contest.
Zimbabwe stopped mighty Australia by 13 runs. If the statistics are negative, the chances of winning before the match may be the same. However, a Zimbabwean who won 100 pounds bet on that 'impossible' equation. Zimbabwean cricketers later received a royal 'treat' from him at the bar.
Cricket Is Known as "The Game of Gentlemen". And it was born in Gentlemen's Country, England. But was it Gentle? Actually It was not. If you look back of the Proud History of Cricket, There are so many Black Patches which can never forget.
We are living in a World where Color of the Skin Consider as a Plus Point. Still, Racism is everywhere. I mean Even in Buckingham Palace. You know what I mean. So even In Cricket was Severely Affected by Racism. I know many of Contestants may have written about Winning moments and such things. But I wanna do Something Different.
“that’s it to the boundary for four. What a victory for the Sri Lankans, a fantastic effort by them. The players are charging out to the ground, little Muralidaran has arrived, what a year he’s been having….”
These were the words came from a legendary commentator, most beloved by the Sri Lankans, at the most grandest day of Sri Lankas sporting history, happened exactly 25 years ago. No matter how many years have gone by it still give me goosebumps even though I was not lucky enough to watch it live. It was world cup of 1996, the world cup for the Sri Lankans.
It is said that the day of June 21 is the longest and warmest day. After this, the heat of the sun starts decreasing slightly. But on this day a different heat was seen on the cricket field. The year was 1975. Cricket's first World Cup had advanced to its conclusion on this day. The final was being played at Lord's ground between Clive Lloyd captained West Indies and Ian Chappell led Australian team.
The next contest will be announced very soon. For more updates, keep following @world-of-cricket.
