"Bismillahir Rahmanir Rohim"
The sunflower is an annual plant with a vast daisy-like flower face (Helianthus annuus). Its scientific name is a combination of the Greek words helios (meaning "sun") and anthos (meaning "flower"). The flowers are available in various hues (yellow, red, orange, maroon, and brown), but they are most frequently bright yellow with brown centres that mature into big heads packed with seeds. Excellent cut flowers and sunflowers also draw a variety of insects like bees, birds, and butterflies.
Heliotropic plants, such as sunflowers, rotate their flowers to face the direction of the Sun as it moves from east to west across the sky. At night, they turn their flowers back toward the east to prepare for the Sun's rise the following morning. Heliotropism occurs in the earlier stages before the flower becomes dense with seeds.
Today, there are many different sunflower kinds, so you may find one that fits your garden. Choose from plants with branching branches or single stems, abundant pollen for pollinators or those that don't generate any pollen (ideal for bouquets), diminutive or towering over other plants.
