The sports news that I can report in the last few days of course comes from my country Indonesia, two sports news I will tell you about here, and fortunately, both are a little happy for me to tell you all.

The first news came** from Aceh province,** the westernmost province of Indonesia. The news is about the opening of the National Sports Week, in short (PON) to XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024, which at its opening was directly carried out by Indonesian President Mr. Joko Widodo. The opening of the National Sports Week (PON) to the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024, officially opened on September 9, 2024, a few days ago.

National Sports Week, in short (PON). Is a championship or national standard event held every 4 years in Indonesia. This event aims to monitor see and evaluate the Ministry of Sports in terms of athlete development and athlete potential throughout Indonesia, to prepare and train athletes to participate in much larger events such as the SEA Games, Asian Games, Asian Championships, and the Olympics.

In the National Sports Week activities, in short (PON) this year. Followed by 38 provinces in Indonesia, consisting of 5,656 athletes and 2,752 coaches and officials. At least 46 sports of different types competed.

The biggest party of sports in Indonesia was held for the first time in 1948, and until now it has become one of the championships or events for athletes to continue to grow and try to be selected and qualify as the athletes who will be fostered in participating in EA Games, Asian Games, Asian Championships and the Olympics. This coaching will be done centrally in the capital of Indonesia. The National Sports Week (PON) to the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 itself will last for 11 days, starting from September 9 to September 20, 2024. Thousands of people from various provinces will visit Aceh province and enliven the 4th annual event. Some branches of the race have started in the race before the opening start because the race schedule is relatively long.

In the previous edition 4 years ago, the overall champion was achieved by West Java province by winning a total of 133 gold medals, 105 silver, and 115 bronze.

▶️ Results of the 3rd Asian zone qualifying round
The second news, of course, came from football news, a match that we were waiting for and quite exciting to watch, even if only through TV channels. My previous post on this subject you can see here 3rd Asian zone qualifying round-Indonesia vs Australia.

The result of the match between Indonesia and Australia finally ended with a final score of 1-1, this draw was a result that was not expected by the two countries. Considering that Indonesia performed in front of 70 thousand supporters, the draw was a little disappointing. This result was also disappointing for Australia who wanted to get their first 3 points, after in the opening match of the Group, Australia unexpectedly lost at home against Bahrain.

The course of the match was quite fierce, especially in the early minutes the hosts Indonesia had pressed Australia. The next match went quickly, this time Indonesia was under pressure as Australia alternately pressed throughout the rest of the match. Match statistics showed that Australia did appear much more dominant over Indonesia, but some opportunities looked threatening Indonesia's defense. Fortunately, the Indonesian goalkeeper was able to make many saves, so the glass score remained until the match was over. However, this result is also quite good for Indonesia, especially difficult to beat Australia on paper juah superior and experienced.

With the results of this match and also several other matches in Group C, Indonesia, and Australia only get 1 extra point. Based on the existing standings, Indonesia is ranked 4th in the results of two draws. While Australia is 1 ladder below Indonesia which is ranked 5th, by collecting 1 point from two matches that Australia has done, the result of one loss and one draw.

It is interesting to wait for the next match, hopefully, my prayers will be answered, and see if Indonesia can clean up some of the matches they will face in October in the continuation of the 3rd Asian zone qualifying round.
