A 40-year-old Oregon man, Robert Cole Parmalee, was arrested and charged with stalking and harassing UConn basketball star Paige Bueckers on Monday, September 18, 2024. Parmalee had been sending disturbing social media posts and messages since February, which escalated over time. Initially, his posts were not threatening, but later messages raised concerns when he claimed he wanted to marry Bueckers and made alarming statements about harming others.
He was apprehended near an airport in Connecticut in August with an engagement ring and lingerie, stating he was on his way to meet Bueckers. He was also wanted in Oregon on unrelated charges. Parmalee has been charged with felony stalking, harassment, and breach of peace, and is being held on a $100,000 bond. A protective order has been issued for Bueckers’ safety
