Can someone tell me what I need to know about hive, please?

Hey guys. Obviously I've only been on Steemit intermittently the last stretch. So.. finding out we are going through such big changes, I have NO idea what is going on and everyone is speaking tech language, as always, and I need someone to translate. I'm too tired to wade through months of posts to figure out what the heck is up.

Wait.

No. Don't translate.

Please just tell me what I need to know in order to keep posting (lots of content ready to roll again, finally!) and not lose funds/status/etc.!

Super grateful. Comment below, please & thanks!

Hive is a copy of Steem with all the posts and all of our accounts. Come Friday, we will have 2 copies that we can read and post to. However much Steem we have here, we'll get Hive coin over there. But there will be less Hive than Steem, so our portion will be about 20% higher, there. You'll sign into Hive with the same keys as here. The interface will be similar. Hive will have a lot of development and new features, as it has like 35 programmers. Steem had about 7 and they mostly quit, and some are joining Hive. Get ready to post on Hive, and maybe still Steem if you want to. But Steem may possibly be a ghost town in the future. Many people are looking forward to moving to Hive. Hive will be what Steem was supposed to become. That's a brief summary. :)

Great! Thanks :). All fine by me. That helps a lot!

How will I know where to go and access my new account?

HIVE will be at https://hive.blog/

Right now, they have pointed that to steemit, but on Friday it will bring you to the new HIVE blockchain front end, and if you post there, it will be stored on HIVE and not STEEM.

You will need to keep your eyes on which steem apps move over to hive, for example steemit will stay on steem but perhaps steempeak will move to hive or use both. We will have to wait until friday to know more

Thank you!
