I think you need to differentiate between personal liberty and financial liberty. Singapore for example is quite free economically but they'll throw you in prison for stupid reasons. The US is probably #1 in personal liberty (sorry but Switzerland is overrated, also Swiss people are elitists as fuck). I'll be moving to the US if everything goes right in a few years. The IRS sucks but at least you have free speech and can own guns over there. Didn't know HK was so hot during summer. Also I want to play sleeping dogs now.

The US is without a doubt #1 in personal liberty, but the culture is in decay, and the push from the establishment to take away constitutional rights is quite strong. Also, the IRS stays with you for life. Even if you move out of the US, you will still be paying them until you can get rid of your US citizenship, which is another process that costs money. So, there's a tradeoff no matter where you go, but yeah, the US outside of the west coast is not bad.
