Heavy showers along with high-velocity winds claimed six lives in Malout subdivision on Tuesday night. Growing crops also affected due to the rain. Over 200 acres were inundated when a breach occurred in
the Karamgarh minor. At Tarkhanwala village, water entered neighouring fields after the drain started overflowing
Some trees were also uprooted due to the high-velocity winds and the showers. The PSPCL too suffered losses
and the power supply also remained affected.
Meanwhile, the district administration ordered a special gridawari to assess the situation. Sumeet Jarangal,
Deputy Commissioner, Muktsar, said the orders hadbeen given to Revenue Department and Agriculture
Department officials to assess the losses of farmers due to the rain.
