Model Kit Review, HOn3 Caboose Kit

in hobbies •  4 years ago

Hello, steemies!

It's time for another model kit review. This review is another model railroad kit review. This kit is for a narrow gauge caboose kit in HOn3 scale, as produced by Precision Scale Co.

The prototype for this caboose is a group of short cabooses used by the Denver & Rio Grande Western 3 foot gauge railroad in Colorado and New Mexico. These cabooses, as built in the 1880s, were 16 foot long, 2 axle cabooses. Shortly after the turn of the century, starting in 1903, these cabooses were converted to 2 truck cabooses and air brake systems were added to comply with new federal railroad safety regulations at that time. A number of these cabooses lasted until the end of service on the D&RGW. Several of these cabooses can now be seen in museums, or in service on tourist railroads.

This kit is not a beginner kit, it has a lot of small detail parts, and may be a challenge to build for someone who doesn't have much kit building experience. It does build up into a well detailed and good looking model.

Here is my kit review video.

I hope you find this railroad model kit review interesting!
