Hi. Isn't that a call out asking to have a conversation?

I noticed that you had posted on my introduction thread, in your reply you had posted some numbers and letters that I didn't understand. Apparently, it was a test?

I think I finally figured out generally what you were saying. "Best regards and see you again from Victor P. (AB4UW)".

I had no idea you were talking about HAM related stuff. I didn't have the experience or context to realize it was related to HAM radio.

I did mention I have an interest in HAM, but I've not been able to advance it beyond an interest yet.

I don't know anyone to teach me anything so I've been rather "hamstrung" trying to learn. I'll get there eventually.

It's nice to meet you. If I ever do get a technician license I'll have to try to look you up. I have been reading about it and researching but I'm not even an appliance operator yet. If you have newbie suggestions I'm all ears.

I think i have seen you mentioning ham radio in your posts here on steemit somwhere. Hence - my short but very specific comment. I expected i could be fully understood right away. Sorry for bringing some confusion to you. 73

The lack of replies confirms suspicions: no one uses CW any longer because most of the new Hams are all appliance operators.

It's a shame they dropped that requirement.

At least that's an old fuddyduddy's opinion.

@willymac , Phrase CQ is used on all modes , not only CW. I have used this on SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK31, AM, FM, etc.
The lack of replies is natural, from a thousand or two who has seen my post here, there is probably no more than 3-5 people who ever heard about ham radio. I regularry look for more hams on steemit, but my efforts got very poor results

The world of radio is changing along with the rest of the world. Too bad because the "good old days" had a lot of innovation and change and a mystique that all the newcomers will miss.

Little things like CW transmissions through a vacuum tube receiver with QRN and QSB and the thermionic hiss from the tubes. That made radio worthwhile.

New Hams may have radio, but it won't be the kind we grew up with.
