Beachcombing in Iceland

in hobby •  8 years ago  (edited)

How i came to go and beachcomb is a story on it's own. I usually would sit myself down with a sketchbook and look at the passing day, but one day i was sitting right untop of fossil bones from an Ice-Age Rhino. Which i took to the experts and from that day on, i haven't stopped, looking for stuff, finds, beautifull things, things that incite creativity.

There isn't a holiday that leaves me empty-handed. One of these holidays was in Iceland, the black volcanic sands, just lured my eye.

In fact it's pretty amazing what you can find, there are people looking for Ambergris, archeological remains, shells, ...
There is even a story about a community of people along the East-coast of Africa who make Arts and Crafts from old flip-flops, which sell worldwide.
There is the Maori woodcarver, who looks for his wood along riverbanks, because the wood he uses is that of an ancient protected tree. And so on...

Perhaps it won't be all that inspiring, but perhaps someone might get to it, go out and whatever.
