Screw You MinerGate

MinerGate really screwed up my iMac. It was so bad, I had to recover the Mac to just before the installation.
My only guess is: lots of malware comes with the download of the MinerGate app.

Recommendation

DO NOT DOWNLOAD MinerGate.
Put some scratch together to purchase a respectable rig; don’t expect to make loads of money mining in our current market with all the other variables involved.

Do the Calculations:

Cost:

1. (GPUs + all hardware, energy usuage...etc)
2. Putting time in to learn the application to use for the pool you’ll be mining with (learn to navigate or optimize settings within the app and GPUs)
3. Acquire skills to assemble, troubleshoot and maintain the rig.
4. Throw in Murphy

Imagine Everything Has Gone Perfect

At this point, you’re about $8,668.98 in the hole, the rig has gone down a couple of times, a buddy of yours helped you optimize it and then you realize your calculations were off. Calculations?!?! That sucker is way louder and running much hotter than you had planned for.
You’ve morphed to a creature constantly in a room alone tinkering on a train set that is always derailing.

ROI

After a week of mining, you realize your ROI at this rate is going to be about 1,039.446043165468 days from now....throw in mining difficulty, rising electrity costs, maybe the DEA stopping by because of such a high energy usuage and whatever else can go wrong.

Imagine a Kicking Market

If coin values rise, and mining hardware becomes more affordable, then everything could change....but really hard to tell.
