I visited a Thermal Spring Spa in New Zealand , in the snow!

Last weekend we combined a road trip with a visit to Hamner Springs, a thermal spa in New Zealand's South Island!

Its Winter here so we were hoping it would snow.. and we were not disappointed. I know its a thing in other regions (Norway and such?) but Ive never been "in the nip" in the snow. :)
Here are some images to give you an idea what NZ looks like (which is to say, beautiful).
We set out from Wellington (the capital, which is on the North Island) on a little Cessna to Blenheim. Ive never been a fan of these but the flight was fine.

From Blenheim we borrowed a car and the 250km drive started:

Finally made it to Hamner Springs, a little Alpine type town. Yes, the snow had stuck!

We first went on the Jet Boat, raced up and down the river at 90kph. Only in NZ could you somehow manage not only not to have queues for such things, but be the only 2 passengers on the boat! :) I dont have the photos with me here.. but anyway, back to the spa.. definately snowing:


This is a busy period apparently..

Spent 4 hours there, in the sulpher pools and on the water slides. There was a kid from Texas there too who had just flew in from 40c temps to this. He was loving it. :D

Driving home we got some great views in the day time too.

What can I say? If you like views, friendly people, no queues and great food.. visit New Zealand. If you want even more extreme versions of that, visit the South Island. :D
