This is a ghost story told from one generation to generations by parents who living in Aceh. When people die in a river, or lake, they die because they are "eaten by Baluem Blidi" or "sucked blood by Baluem Blidi." If there are children dying when bathing in the river, that means they have been sucked up by the Baluem. When I was a kid, I trusted this story. I will not bathe myself in the river, because the peoples say, “the Baluem Blidi will find the prey who bathed themselves.”

Is this a mythical story? Perhaps you would say that. But, it is not for the parents who lived around the 1950s, they believed it. People of Aceh, especially in my area of residence, those aged 60 -70 believe this story. Especially those who live in rural areas. The story of Baluem Blidi was scattered, until today. Although it feels illogical!!! How does Baluem Blidi look for prey? it is interesting to tell you.
From the speech of several people, the Baluem Blidi will search for prey on the river, that have stagnant water, and swift water. Stagnant water means not superficial, while running water is usually shallow and rocky. Baluem Blidi will attract the prey who are bathing. The person will be drawn to the bottom of the river, then put into the holes located on the wall of the river. After a few minutes, the person is dead, floating on the surface of the water. If a friend sees, don’t think to help right away, because they will also be withdrawn, sucked in blood, and die. You can help your friend if you are taking a bath with three or four people.
Besides Baluem Blidi is in "river water like that", if there is a puddle of water that spins like a tornado, there must be The Baluem Blidi. It is need advanced technology to see this ghost manifestation. Perhaps. What is the physical form of Baluem Blidi? Does it look like a Goblin, or, Gollum?

Whether it was female or male. The Acehnese have not known any more details until now. From the person I asked, they said that Baluem Blidi was hiding in the water on one wall of land. Baluem Blidi enter the ground, eliminating the original form. When there is a prey, he/she will come out sucking blood. His original form was never revealed, only known to the prey. But I have never heard of anyone after eaten Baluem Blidi, he lives. Maybe if there has people like this, then they can tell the original form.

Well, when people die in rivers, lakes, they still trust Baluem Blidi is still in action, looking for prey. Although the world is sophisticated, this "dracula" still exists. So don’t be surprised, in Aceh, if there is a mother forbid her son bathing in the river, one of a reason that is because there has Baluem Blidi. If their children continue to bathe in the river, they will be frightened by Baluem Blidi.:D

actually, I do not know the correct spelling of this folklore: is it..Baluem Blidi / Ballum Bili, or Baluem Bili. But if you come to my village, then ask about the Baluem Blidi, they will tell you the story. If you interested, this concept could be make a movie, or write a novel story, like a something new from here, from this place. Or up to you. This is jus intermezzo from me to all of you.
