It's Holocaust Remembrance Day and here's an interesting fact

The Jewish community of Zakynthos is the only Jewish community in Greece that survived the Holocaust.

In 1943 the Nazis took control of the pastoral Greek island of Zakynthos and immediately demanded that the mayor provide them with a list of all the Jewish inhabitants of the island. In a bold move, Mayor Lucas Kerer sent back to the Nazi commander of the island the list with only two names - his and that of Archbishop Dimitrios Chrysostomos. His answer to the question of why he did not provide the names was: "We are the first Jews on the island. If you want to take our Jews, we go with them." Together, they managed to smuggle the Jews to the small villages that hid them.

Of course, the Germans did everything to trace the Jews, but they did not receive help from the local inhabitants and were forced to give up...

Another inspiring story. I brought one inspiring story too. 🙏

Wow. I think God was protecting His people as a remnant. I wish we have brave leaders like Mayor Lucas Kerer in our times. Leaders who will live and die for their people. It's a great information. I've never heard of this before. Thanks for letting me know.
