Project Starlink, the holograms google wants to put into your conversations

Talking by videoconference is one thing, but talking to someone else on a panel with a three-dimensional effect, showing the other person as if they were physically in front of us, is a very different one.

That is Project Starline, a kind of magical window where you can see, in life-size and in three dimensions, the other person, being able to speak naturally, make gestures, and make eye contact.

At the moment they are only working on the project, there is no product on the market, although recently I saw in the Triton company a technology very similar to the one they comment: someone speaks in a studio, with white background, while a screen transmits on the other side of the world generating a three-dimensional effect. Google is more geared towards communicating with two people.

In the case of Google, they are using computer vision, machine learning, spatial audio, real-time compression, and a light field display system that creates a sense of volume and depth that can be experienced without the need for additional glasses or headphones.

They comment that Project Starline is available in only some of Google's offices, using custom hardware and highly specialized equipment, but believe that over time they will make everything more affordable and accessible.

We will be attentive to everything you may present in this regard. At the moment I leave you with the video I recorded in Triton showing something that generates a result very similar to what Google describes, although in this case it is not intended for two-way communication and yes for the presentation of content.
