"Hope For A Better Future" Painting For holoz0r Contest!

I hope I'm not too late. A last-minute entry. This month has also been super busy for me, and I struggled with this theme "Hope."
I started off with this painting earlier this month. Then changed my mind and wished I did pencil. I did some sketches, And couldn't decide how I wanted to cover the topic of hope. So I went back to the painting.

Here it is.
I wanted to use brighter colors to give it a happier tone. I used Acrylic.
The girl is trying to dig herself out of the ground. Reaching for the lemon tree.
I used a lot of yellow in this painting, Because yellow is a happy color. But At the same time, it seems as though when you have too much "yellow" in something it makes you a little crazy.

I feel like when we have too much hope, But we aren't gaining enough ground. It can be easy for us to go a little crazy. When we work really hard and get no where, Sometimes hope isn't enough. Which is why I picked lots of yellow.

I love the contrast.

I feel like when we have too much hope, But we aren't gaining enough ground.

That is a feeling I struggle with a lot of the time too. How much hope is too much and when is it just delusional etc. Nice painting.

Beautiful painting. When you feel like you're doing a lot of work and gaining no ground it's ok to stop and evaluate what you're doing wrong or abandoning the project all together.

Just because a project fails doesn't mean you've done something wrong. It may not be the right time or application that your putting all your effort into and your time is better spent somewhere else.

Interesting what you say about yellow, I've heard that yellow can represent insanity in literature and film! Very nice painting :)

The interesting thing about yellow is the fact that it is used heavily in art that is abstract in its general nature - the pointillists tended to use it a lot as well as a fair few post-modern abstract painters - it could be argued that this is where the 'insanity' comes from; due to the chaotic nature of that sort of work, but it is interesting what colours bring out what emotions, and using this makes art more powerful :)

This came up when i googled, it obvious;y has lots of positive connaotations but can represent mental illness:

Symbolism of the color yellow in literature. Yellow is associated with joy, happiness, intellect and energy. It is a stimulating color that represents honor, loyalty, and stimulates mental activity. It is also an unstable color associated with cowardice and mental illness.
