Daily Worship: They have never known God's secrets, never hoped for the rewards of a holy and blameless life

God's secrets are the secrets of truth and wisdom. God is the wisdom itself, talk about God is talking about wisdom explains Thomas Aquinas. There is a point in which Greek philosophy, in particular Platonic thought, and biblical belief coincide: the spiritual or philosophical life of man has as its objective the access of the mind to the plane of immaterial truths: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”, 2 Corinthians 4:18.
But this access of the mind to the truth is a grace of God, an act of divine mercy; those who reject devotion to God and a life dedicated to mercy, making sin a habit cannot have God's vision: "That is how evil people think, but they are wrong. They are blinded by their own wickedness. They have never known God's secrets, never hoped for the rewards of a holy and blameless life.", Wisdom 2:22.
This is so because reason is not a perfection ("Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48), fantasy (which is a faculty proper of reason) inclines men to error. The bible for example cannot be discerned in terms of human reason, but must be discerned in spiritual terms, the bible is a sealed book: “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures”, Luke 24:45.

The bible explains to us that it is the inner teacher, the wisdom that lives in the heart of man, who is in charge of revealing the mysteries of God to us, but this inner teacher demands a pure and devoted heart, the holy spirit does not commune with fools: "Wisdom will never be at home with anyone who is deceitful or a slave of sin. Everyone who is holy has learned to stay away from deceitful people. He will not stay around when foolish thoughts are being expressed.", Wisdom 1:4-5.
