The Book of Acts of the Apostles recounts the conversion, through the action of the Holy Spirit, of Lydia, a worshiper of God, in the Greek city of Philippi during Paul's second missionary journey.
While Jesus was with the disciples, he promised them the paraclete that they would receive after his departure, and that is what happened. After Pentecost, this spirit manifested himself to pour out his spiritual gifts on the disciples and guide them.
And this spirit of wisdom was the spiritual guide of the Apostle Paul during his missionary travels, indicating to Paul where he should mission and preach the good news; the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of God's perfections, just as it had friends it also had enemies. The Kingdom of God is a message of salvation intended for all who fear God (constancy, firmness, devotion). Paul was in every sense a guided, enlightened, and inspired missionary.
The Book of Acts during the second missionary journey of the apostle, tells how after a vision of the holy spirit, Paul and his companion Silas left the region of Phrygia towards Macedonia, a region of Greece:
"From Troas we put out to sea and sailed straight for Samothrace, and the next day we went on to Neapolis. From there we traveled to Philippi, a Roman colony and the leading city of that district of Macedonia. And we stayed there several days" Acts 16:11-12.
Arriving in Philippi, the book of Acts tells how Lydia's heart was opened to the word of God, through that reverential fear, and thus the Church of Philippi began to grow:
"On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.
One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. ´If you consider me a believer in the Lord,´ she said, ´come and stay at my house.´ And she persuaded us" Acts 16:13-15.
