The rebellion of Korah: The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is with them. Numbers 16:3

The rebellion of Korah, in the book of Numbers, is a story that shows us how destructive the hardness of the heart is. In resume, there is no wisdom, clear intelligence, or blessing in those who ignore the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion), that is the fundamental message of this sad story. Like Cain who killed his brother Abel by passion in the Book of Genesis, the fools, those who live only according to their most immediate needs and personal ambitions, can only expect ruin and destruction. And about this, a sapiential book reminds us with wise words: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm" Proverbs 13:20.
God had confirmed Moses as a prophet and authority before the nation of Israel through innumerable signs and wonders, but before reaching the promised land, a group of men led by Korah rejected the authority of Moses and Aaron.
"Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—became insolent and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council. They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, ´You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the LORD's assembly?´" Numbers 16:1-3.
God punished with destruction the pride of Korah and his followers, and according to the words of the Bible, the earth opened up and the rebels were swallowed by the Abyss: "They went down alive into the realm of the dead, with everything they owned" Numbers 16:33.
In this story, the fear of God became the difference between life and death.
