The spiritual rebirth: You have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. 1 John 2:27

The first epistle of John is a metaphorical continuation of what Jesus taught to his follower Nicodemus, that night in which the teacher of the law of Moses went to see the "son of man" to receive that mysterious instruction that brings men closer to God.
And Jesus revealed to Nicodemus the knowledge about that new birth not in water, like the baptism that John gave in the Jordan River, but about that spiritual rebirth in "salt" and "fire." This last birth is the fruition of the gifts received from the Holy Spirit, the fruition of righteousness ("Do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12), the fruition of mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness), because the gifts are progressive thought, accuracy and precision (assertiveness), intuition, inspiration and creativity.
And the apostle John in his first epistle gave a very clear message about the importance of eternal life, the life that comes with the second birth; the gift of eternal life is not in the life after death, the eternal life is here and now, the eternal life is a set of blessings that God grants in advance of the life in glory. This is why the evangelist wrote about the blessing to which all those who accept Jesus as personal savior are called: "In this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us" 1 John 2:25.
This new birth is described several times in the Book of Acts, when the apostles received the Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), when Peter and John arrived in Samaria and laid their hands on the inhabitants of the place before Simon Magus (Acts 8:14-17), and when Peter spoke to Centurion Cornelius and his family (Acts 10:44-45).
And in this new life something that John highlighted stands out, the arrival of the Holy Spirit as an inner teacher, whoever receives this teacher cannot be subjected to ignorance or deception: "You have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie" 1 John 2:27.
