How to deodorize and perfume home with natural methods

in home •  7 years ago

We would all like to have a house always in order and fragrant. This is not always possible for a different number of reasons. In addition to the home order, which we usually tend to postpone in the weekend, when you have more free time available, there is to say that some rooms, even if clean for benino stay with an unpleasant smell in the background, of which we do not always understand what the cause is.

In this guide we will explain to you how to neutralize the bad smells from the rooms of your home, both by examining the various causes and suggesting natural and non-aggressive remedies very effective.

Let us see them together.

Where does the smell come from?
First of all, we need to understand where this unpleasant smell comes from. In some cases, bad habits can cause it, such as for example:

Little room ventilation

smoking
Cooking and leaving all doors open at home
mold
dirty walls
carpets, draperies and carpets for washing
cupboards for cleaning
dirty and malodorous clothes and shoes
powder
etc., etc.
So, first of all, you must literally analyze - in perfect CSI style - the smelly room and understand its cause. We recommend that you proceed step by step.

First of all, move the furniture and clean the accumulated dust carefully. Beat carpets and, if possible, wash them or have them washed by a professional. Then, remove the curtains and wash them. Soft also blankets, pillows and any other tissues present.

Empty drawers and closets and, simply smell the clothes, try to find out if the problem is theirs. If in doubt, wash everything and put some deodorants for natural cupboards, such as lavender.

Look for any traces of mould due to poor ventilation in the room, moisture or water infiltration. In case mold is the problem, you can solve it with one or more of these methods.

Deodorization of a room naturally: how to do it?
Even if the room deodorants are functional and more and more of the real furnishing accessories, it has to be said that they are quite harmful for the environment and for those who breathe them. It is better, therefore, to adopt natural remedies able to perfume the room without endangering health. First of all, it is good to ventilate the room in the right way, trying to create a minimum of current between the various rooms of the house. If the environment is very much alive, like the living area, then open the shutters for at least 10 minutes every hour.

In the incriminating room you have to carry out a thorough cleaning, which, as we have specified before, also requires the internal and external cleaning of the wardrobes: in short, spring cleaning! Maybe you've never thought about it, but even walls and light bulbs should be cleaned up! Prepare a mixture in equal parts of hot water and vinegar, then put inside some drops of the essential oil that you prefer and wash everything.

To perfume in the true sense of the word the house, if you are in winter you can opt for simple orange peel or lemon to put on radiators at home. Or you can create yourself a room deodorant by boiling the cloves or cinnamon sticks in water for a few minutes; then, filter everything and put it in a spray. Another good alternative, often used also for Christmas decorations, is to take an orange and to stick many cloves in the skin, also in an "artistic" way (here you can find a good example of a centrepiece to perfume the house).

Also, you can try the scented candles (be careful of the ingredients!), a stove where you can burn essential oils, or use the sticks of incense or other scent.

If, however, you notice that the problem has not been completely solved, try to put sheets of paper regularly in the smelling room; leave them there for several days, until the stench has gone away.
