Decorate house saving home

in home •  7 years ago

We are always struggling with bills to pay, sudden expenses that we had not included in the weekly plan and little extras, that finding the resources to decorate the house really seems to be the last thing to put in the list of priorities.

But if even to you the idea of living in a bare house, without personality and without colors and decorations does not brighten you at all, then you can take inspiration from these ideas to create original decorations by spending little money and reusing what you already have at home!

Wait for sales and disposals

Keep your eyes open and your ears open, so you can take advantage of special discounts that your city's shops, department stores and small shops put in place from time to time. In this way, you will be able to buy decorations and furnishings that you have been looking for for a long time, saving up to 50%.
Use paper

Silk paper, colored paper, recycled paper from old newspapers and books is a super cheap material that lends itself to be used in various ways. You can create garlands, decorative flowers, colored balls or you can use paper to coat old furniture and give the room a modern and youthful atmosphere.
An idea to decorate the empty wall of the study or living room? Create some nice butterflies in various sizes with coloured cardboard and attach them to the white wall around a simple wall clock.

The white walls left empty are a bit sad and impersonal; to add a touch of colour and give character to the entire room, did you believe that the only possible solution was to rely on expensive wallpaper or on important and colourful decorations and paintings? No, we can decide to draw the walls of the house as if they were a white sheet! Elegant and refined geometric shapes, drawings of animals and cartoon characters for the smaller rooms, squiggles and inscriptions for the kitchen and living room.
For geometric shapes you don't have to be able to draw, you just need to prepare on cardboard the desired shape and use it as a model to reproduce on the wall; for drawings and writings to be done freehand you will have to commit a little more or ask for help from your friend painter!
What to use? Even the simple tempera colours will go well, they are cheap and really easy to use!

Recycle and give new life to old objects

We don't have the possibility to buy new decorations and pieces of furniture but our cellar is full of old objects that we almost forgot! Well, give space to imagination and creativity and give these objects new life!
The drawer of an old chest of drawers can be transformed into a very nice shelf in which to insert fragrant plants and flowers; pallets recovered from the deposit can be assembled to create a low table for the living room or the strips can be glued together to form a frame to hang on the wall.
But you can also use unusual tools and objects in an original and creative way to characterize the rooms and personalize the rooms: old wooden skis can be hung on the wall in the living room of a lover of the peaks, dance shoes and fabrics recovered from the old tutu can embellish the bedrooms of the little dancer.... there is no limit to imagination and creativity!

Use plywood

Simple, linear and economical plywood panels are the best solution to create unique and original decorations.
You can paint them, draw lines and geometric shapes and hang the panels on the wall as if they were paintings or you can shape them to create a small table to place in the entrance.
These small and simple ideas will help you to make your home as you always imagined it, without spending money! Not bad, no!!
