Indoor succulents: succulents in the home
Furnishing the house with succulents
Some succulent or succulent plants are suitable to be inserted in an aesthetically harmonious way within a classic or informal furnishing, providing chromatic solutions and interesting focal points. The thermal and water needs of these plants can be easily observed with small precautions: wet the soil in the pot, expose the plants to diffused light, away from drafts and from damage to the tissues caused by the impact of people or objects.
Choose the pot for succulents: shape, color, size
The shape of the vase and its color, but also the material of which it is made are fundamental elements for the good insertion of the succulent plant in each room of the apartment: bright and / or warm colors (red, yellow, orange) are well suited to a modern decor contrasting with the white, blue or green of the furniture; while we will opt for cold colors even if intense to complement antique or rustic furniture, using terracotta vases to harmonize with the wood. The shapes vary a lot as a consequence of the supports on which we will place the vase and the species that will live there: therefore, we use narrow and elongated pots if resting on the ground where to insert globose cacti, or short and wide vases for the collections of different coco, globose and columnar to be laid on the table or even large vases of medium height for succulents (succulent columnar) always resting on the ground.

The right oily or succulent plant in the right place
A discreetly lit corner is an excellent point where to place succulent plants with columnar development that accompany the rest of the furniture, but detaching in shape and color. Then we can use: Pachypodium lamerei (in terracotta pot) with gray trunk and dark green foliage next to a walnut colored piece of furniture, or an Euphorbia abyssinica (in white vase) with an intense green stem that enhances the white of a laminate wardrobe ; wonderful aramid Zamioculcas zamiifolia, slender and with the leaves of a beautiful glossy dark green If we want to distinguish our plant from the rest of the furnishings are ideal combinations long light vase and Echinocactus grusonii or Parodia magnifica that have spines and / or flowers yellow color. On the table, in the center or even near the edge, in union with other non-succulent plants, we will put short or wide vases depending on the size of the plant, which will harmonize with the bottom of the piece of furniture; indicated are the following cactus species: Echinocatus grusonii, Mammilaria hahniana, Mammillaria matudae, Ferocactus glaucescens, Melocactus matanzanus, Astrophytum ornatum.
A plant that certainly fascinates anyone who sees it at the center of an elegant table is the famous and very common Kalanchoe blossfeldiana with red, orange, yellow or white flowers that last a long time in summer; this species is adaptable to any type of furniture.
