Salt Lamp Makes a Beautiful Night Light

in homehealth •  7 years ago

We recently redecorated my dad's bedroom. Due to an unfortunate fall at his advanced age, he has taken a sudden downturn in health. We removed his king-size bed and set up a hospital bed for him.

When I went to buy more sheet sets for the bed, I passed an end cap that was filled with a display of pink Himalayan Rock Salt Lamps. I have heard about the salt having some good benefits, plus I was going to be buying an adjustable lamp anyway. The one overhead ceiling light was just too much on Daddy's poor tired eyes. I decided to pick one of them up and use it in his bedroom. It looks so pretty in the room at night. I keep it turned very low most of the time, but I can turn it up to give me enough light to tend to Daddy's needs. salt.jpg

My sweet husband took the picture of the lamp sitting in a little cubby cube. Daddy is quite talented in the woodshop and built little cubbies all through the house to hold all the little knickknacks Mother had collected through the years. The picture was taken with our little Canon Elph 115 Sure Shot.

You can find a wealth of information on the salt lamps. One web page I went to was www.veryhealthy.life. According to them the lamps can change the energy of the surroundings, clean the air, raise the spirits and mood. The negative ions are beneficial to overall health.

We can use a lot of "mood lifting" right now. On Thursday a nurse came out and signed Daddy up for Home Health. After she turned her report into her board of supervisors, we were called on Friday. They had changed his status from being a home health patient to being a Hospice patient. We have received counselling from the nurse on just what that involves. Our moods have been on the low side since, but we know who holds the future.

We have had a flurry of friends and family in and out since then, and more scheduled to come next week. We have lots of support from so many who have loved my dad for many years. We are so thankful for one and all.

We have looked at these before! Let me know after a while if you notice any thing about it!

I heard they cause dust to fall. So it reduces allergens!

I had not heard about them causing dust to fall, but we do have an ionizing ozone machine that sends out negative ions that bind to the dust particles in the air and cause them to fall, so it stands to reason.

I am curious what you did with the salt lamp. It is so neat, I hope it is a light of happy remembrance of your father, even though it was with him a short while.

Anyway, I was just scrolling through your posts and thinking about you!

Hope you are well!!

Peace

We never got one, though we had heard so much good for their anti-allergen properties.

Nevermind, just hoping you are keeping your healthy home and getting ready to enjoy this Spring weather! Let the Son shine!!!

Recently I read a whole thread that stated the salt lamp has supposedly been debunked of providing ions or other health benefits. But they still look great... And you can chip off some salt and grind it if you are ever in a pinch.

This is from @em3.

We miss you!!

I have one that my cousin got me this past Christmas. I have not noticed any improvements in the air or anything healthy per se, but it is a lovely light!

Also hoping here that @grannycooks comes back!

Nice pic. I have had a salt lamp in my room for over a year. Not sure if it really helps. I love the glow. I bought several for my grown kids and some inlaws.

Maybe it will help lift moods.

Hi, texas. I have just now found your message. I have not been on steemit in weeks. Just did not feel inspired to get on the keyboard. I am glad to hear you love your lamp. I forgot about it lifting moods. Maybe I will bask in it's glow a little more tomorrow. Glad to see you on steemit.
