Due to the much popularity homeschooling has gotten in the past few years, there are now several homeschool groups and co-ops around which you can join in your local community as you start your homeschool journey. These groups will get you informed, advise you on issues, and provide answers to any questions you might have as regards homeschooling. In addition, many of them offer classes for homeschoolers, homeschool field trips and other forms of socialization for homeschoolers to interact and learn from more experienced homeschoolers who have years of experience and know what it’s like when one is just starting out.

One of the important things you should do when you have made the decision to homeschool your children is to find out what your state and country laws say about homeschooling because, in some countries, homeschooling is illegal or restricted to some conditions. All countries allow parents to educate their children at home but some countries like California require parents to register as private schools, while in countries like Pennsylvania, all homeschooled children must take standardized tests as they reach the third, fifth and eighth grades. A good place to find out all the legal requirements for homeschooling is the state’s Department of Education website, which will only take you few minutes.
