I've been trying to post some of the things we have been doing over here to show the world that homeschooling or unschooling is a viable option for an education that focuses, in my opinion, more on the child and how THEY learn versus an indoctrination learning system we see with the current public school system.
I will not knock education in general, I will only razz people about the methodology simply because it comes down to choice yet again. What my kids will be learning is what they could be taught in school, however, if they excel they get bumped up to the next level compared to having to wait for the others in the class to be "caught up."
Anyway, here are some photos and a couple videos of the kids from last weeks adventures!

This trail was awesome! There were a couple of books along the route to keep the kids involved. They got to read about turtles and butterflies!

There will be plenty more to come. In the next segment, I will post videos of the kids climbing the tree in the yard! When you are having fun, learning/understanding comes so much faster!
What is awesome about the homeschooling/unschooling is they also get to learn about different technologies that they typically wouldn't learn about in school as well.
They will get to learn GEET, Solar Panels, Wind/Water Turbines, Tesla's patents, etc...

:) It is a decision we thought long and hard about. My wife is still a bit weary because of "structure" but I am confident we will make it work. The kids love the freedom to explore.

What a happy decision ! Of course there are a lot of questions and its not So Easy in our society to be so different from the others but after all What I read and saw about Unschooling I am sure that it's very good choice for your kids :)
The structure you can create it with your kids, They Will learn What structure They need to grow up in a comfortable way..

I hope they thank me for it later. Right now my son is showing signs that he would rather be in a class. It is ok though because it is a learning curve for both of us. Thank you for tuning in!

I love homeschooling and if the parents are involved so much better - wish all my parents would understand that it is NOT only a teacher's and book's job to get kids ready for life

It is so true! We do a whole range of things. Each video I post is a small lesson in learning. It is supposed to be fun though there are days it does get frustrating. I give much respect to teachers in schools, though, I give even More props to the parents who take control and understand the education process is so much more than what you had stated. Stay tuned!

Homeschooling is not always easy, in terms of organization. When both parents work, etc...
Moreover, they are pros and cons. Some unreasonable parents can 'teach' unreasonable things at home as well. I am not against it, but I am not in favor of it too. Maybe a mixed system, I don't know.

Lemouth, you are correct. It is not always easy. The pros are that my children have more one on one time when it comes to learning. Also, they get to go out and experience more life than sitting in a class room with distractions and being told to sit still.
The cons I have found is when they get restless while working on a lesson. I do not want to be the hammer and force them to "learn" but I am also learning too how to be a better listener, guide, teacher.
For me the only thing I can do is read and apply what I have read. If I do this, they will be better off with the homeschooling.

I really respect that and you seem to do it really seriously. I am just afraid about people that could do thinks randomly or badly (possibly without noticing). But I may also be afraid of something I don't know.
On our side, we are trying to teach a lot at home too, but as a complement to school, and we keep an eye on what is done at school. That also works well with our busy schedules :)

Thank you! When we were young it was a different environment. In todays current education system, homeschooling/unschooling just make sense if and when it can be done.
