In sad news, I lost a duck recently. There are large mink here that will eat a whole duck in one evening, very adorable, yet vicious creatures.
I got in the rowboat and made my way all around the pond, calling for the missing duck.
I was very much hoping it got stuck in something but that was not the case. Considering where and how I discovered the missing duck’s body I think that a mink is my main suspect.
Unfortunately now that the mink knows where to get a sitting duck, I’ll have to make sure the remaining ducks are in their house before dark, and keep a much closer eye on them.
That’s the life of a homesteader I suppose, it has ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade this opportunity for anything!
