Dreaming of Spring
This weekend, I wanted to get outside and do some work but the weather had different plans. It snowed most of the day Saturday and rained all day Sunday. So we spent the weekend inside and dreamed about spring.
We started by cataloging our leftover seeds from last year. We were out of a few seeds and ordered more radish, beets, cucumber, peas and beans. While we were looking through the seed, we started figuring out our planting schedule. Wow, planting time is coming fast; it was already time to start some seeds indoors.
We needed a place to start seeds so we started work on a shelf for our seedlings. We gathered up some scrap 2x4s our neighbor gave us. It's decent wood but is full of nails. After about an hour of pulling nails, we had enough boards. The shelf went together pretty quick and I hung a few lights on it. I think it worked out well considering it was built with free materials.
We planted some cabbage and cauliflower seeds. Then we finished the weekend by planning out our garden. It's still a work in progress but we have some idea of where the plants will be. I wasn't able to do what I had planned but it was still a productive weekend. I'm ready for spring to come.
