I made raspberry jelly and a blue berry jelly. I ended up with 13 pints and 6 half pints.
Made with the raspberries we picked, and left over raspberries from last years trip to the you-pick farm.
Also using the whole bucket of blueberries we picked.
Blueberry Jams
So according to the instructions that came in the box, you chop the berries. So I used this thingy.
Worked well.
The recipe called for 4 cups chopped blue berries and 4 cups sugar.
This is what it looked like.
This is how much I got in this batch, 5 pints.
I washed the pot and made a Splenda and agave version for my grand parents.
Blueberry Jelly
After washing the pot again I made a seed free version for my hubby.
I chopped the blueberries again, added some lemon too. But I couldn’t find a blueberry jelly recipe. So I used the one for grapes. It said to cook the berries with some water. Then strain it with cloth.
I used this cloth.
It worked well, the blueberry seeds are very small. So I did a single layer strain. Then doubled the fabric and strained the juice again to make sure.
I also had to wash the pot again. 😪 To make sure there are no seeds.
The fabric is so pretty now.
Unfortunately the Jelly didn’t set up, so I will have to redo it. I know I put enough sugar, 7 cups 😑
So it must be the pectin, I have plenty of boxes to retry.
Raspberry Jelly
I also made a raspberry jelly for the hubby, he is craving it bad. But he can’t eat the berries because of the seeds. So when we were picking it was sucky for him.
I used the same cloth as the blueberries to strain.
It turned out great and he says it hit the spot! Yay!!!
Made four pints 😊 It also set up too! Yay!!
All the jams and jellies I made yesterday.
So tired and feet hurt from standing for so long.
Started cooking at 1400(2pm), finished at 0130(1:30am).
Here’s proof
Took this after pulling the last jars out.
My back and legs ache for you. It's been a long time since I made jam. I kind of miss the process. There is something old-world exciting about getting out the canning pot, the tongs, the mason jars. Like I'm channeling my grandmother. Maybe you were channeling yours too.

It tastes best on homemade bread that still a bit warm, with softened sweet butter.
Not to bad in peanut butter and jelly form either.
We have had the chronic blue tongue for awhile now.

That sure is a lot of work, but no doubt the rewards will pay off. The jam looks really deep and rich too..... Good Job there.

Thanks! It was a real pain too. I started and stopped each batch, by that I mean I couldn’t do multi batches at a time. I cooked it down, strained it, washed the pan, cooked it again, poured it into jars, switched pans, cooked the lids, cooked the jars, then did it all over again.

Yummm, homemade jam is always the best! Especially on homemade bread!! Dallas's grandparents are always giving him jars of different jams they make.
I was actually doing some canning the other day too, I made some canned coleslaw. My first time making it, I had lots of cabbage in the garden to use up. I opened one already and it was soo good!

Oh yeah fresh homemade bread that’s still a bit warm and a bit of butter so it don’t get soggy 🤤
Oh yum! I love coleslaw! What about making sauerkraut? You could make rubens, drool!
