I was racing the sun and weather to get the roof done today.

Well I was checking the weather forcast and it showed it was going to be hot today then rain for three days.

So I had to act fast!

This is where I started today.

You can see my other work days on the roof part one here and part two here.

So I am trying my damnedest to get this done.
The roof was so damn hot! I needed up taking a few popsicle breaks.

Come to find out the house was 130° in the sun, my husband used a laser thermometer.

After a while I had one bucket done.

I was able to get the rest on the eve on the back side done and most of the far end.

But I needed to finish this! Like now!
So I headed into town to get more paint.
It was so freaking g HOT!

On the way in I also go stuck behind a motor home going 50 mph in a 65. 🤦‍♀️

Once we got to town we hit rush hour traffic, yay... After almost getting hit by a car while walking into Lowe’s and having a lady almost hit me with a full and heavy cart(I hyper extended my fingers trying to stop it), we got our paint for the roof.

Then headed to a head shop.
I also picked up a new hooka, we lost the bottom bowl in our moving boxes. I found the cheapest $40 one they had.

This was the only okayish one they had. The others were just as bad. I got two packs of tobacco too, purple haze and black martini.

So away we went back home to paint.

Taken just before I used the paint mixer and making a huge freaking mess!

Here is the after, after two more buckets of paint and ton of sweat too.

As you can see I have a smiggin bit left. We tried to use some of the paint from my mess and from the bucket lids.

But that still wasn’t enough.
Looks like I will be trying to find a gallon of roof paint.

nice hookah!
How long do you think that roof paint will last? Is it something that you have to re-apply every year?

I don’t like the look of the hookah, but it works. I would rather have hippie dippy stuff on it, I love tie dye.
We don’t smoke anymore, but I have been craving it. We tried the purple haze first, once it heated up it was nice.
I am not sure how long the paint will last. I think it would last longer if the rain didn’t come early and wash it all away. I want to cry! 😭
We are planning on putting a new roof on the house next year or soonish.

You like hippy stuff, no way! So sorry to hear that your string of trouble is continuing... I am sure a new roof over your heads will give you a lot of peace of mind, and hopefully not at too high of a cost.

LOL smart ass😜
Yeah it’s more troubles, but I could always be worse. That’s why we have plastic sheeting and tarps. LOL
A new roof and flashings would amazing! I still want to paint the roof white after a new roof, I never want to worry about it again. Not for a very long time anyways. A metal roof would be nice. We bought a lot of scrap metal roofing two years ago, but realized it would be useless with a weak roof.

Thats a great idea, a white painted roof! And sorry to chuckle but thats funny theres the last patch remaining!! Next summer will be a breeze and im sure it wont be 130degress when its white 😊

Yeah it figured that the small amount left is probably the same freaking amount that I spilled while mixing. It just figures.
But your right the roof won’t be 130°

That roof paint should seal up the roof really well as well as reflecting the summer heat.

That's quite a job! The roof is my next project we will be getting done on our house too. Yesterday we started putting up the flashing on the edges of the roof. Next comes the tar.
Hard to believe Alaska gets that hot in the summer time. Badass hookah too ;-).

Thanks! I am not looking forward to redoing the roof. We will be doing shingles, yeah this is just a patch job to get us by for now.
It’s crazy how hot it gets, it’s sucks bad some days.
I don’t like the hookahs look at all, I would rather have tie dye then skulls with glowing eyes.

The one you got still looks pretty cool. :-)

Thanks 😊
