Poetry: Rain

Rain

Then the heavens opened
And down it came
Hour after hour
More of the same

Yesterdays drought
Turned into a flood
Now everywhere I look
Is nothing but mud

Where once there was grass
Is now a creek
The quiet meandering stream
Now a river at peak

The dust that was there
Is now in the past
The riverlets of water
Are now raging fast

IMG_0339 (2).JPG

Stock on the bank
Are starting to low
All of them wondering
Where did the grass go

IMG_0332 (2).JPG

I'm lucky my house
Is up on a hill
Or I might look like Noah
With an ark to fill

All images are my own.

Love it! It flows really well and the end is perfect. I'm kind of imagining you with a robe and staff, herding a bunch cows onto the ark. ;-)

Aww thank you :) Haha if I went out in a robe I'd scare everything to death :D

@andysantics48. It looks like it rained a lot. :)

It sure was a lot of rain - it just bucketed down :)

I love this one! And you added some timely photos to show us exactly how wet it is in your part of the world. I hope it recedes soon and the cows can find their grass again!

Thanks Peggy - I quite liked this one too - It sure was amazing to see the water rising so quickly but it's all gone again now :)

Very well done that was really good :)

Thanks Karen :D

Smiling at your poetic response to the deluge...

Good attitude!

I hope it isn't overwhelming, and that your homestead survives brilliantly.

😄😇😄

@creatr

All the water is gone now and the wind is blowing like a mad thing to dry everything out again lol - Glad I could make you smile :)Thank you for the kind words :)
