Can you buy 10000 gal tanks in USA? I have been living off rainwater for 25 plus years and so far have never treated my tanks and have never been sick. You're filter should help with not needing chems

I plan on getting a larger tank when funds allow, yes. Im not sure about 10,000, but that would be great!
I gotten similar advice as well, but birds poop on my roof, and i also have squirrels that sun around on it sometimes too. Id rather not chance it, and using that minute amount of bleach doesnt concern us. The peroxide basically dissolves the bleach into gas and once it does its job, it becomes water. Its mostly to combat the bacteria we cant see, and the algae that can grow in my tanks really easy.

Years ago I bought property from a dairy farmer. We built a house on it and plumbed into his spring water from the other side of the valley. Once in a while the elk would get up to the spring and kick the pipe out. The dairy farmer would run a gallon of industrial strength chlorine through the whole system. He would dump it into the pipe at the spring and we would all open our faucets and run until the chlorine smell was gone.

Sometimes thats what you have to do for contamination, and man does chlorine stink! I always hated that smell. I wonder if flushing out with a couple gallons of peroxide after would help remove the chlorine?

I do it because you dont know what will land on your roof or in your rain gutters, and even a small drop of animal poop can infect a whole tank. Algae is another reason too.
