Planting Grocery Store Potatoes

in homesteading •  6 years ago

"YOU CANT PLANT GROCERY STORE POTATOES" they said!!! lets prove them wrong!

here is what i do. in the fall, when potatoes go on sell, i buy a bushel. because they are sprayed with this anti growth compound it will take until spring until they start sprouting, long after the ones you harvested! so i eat the potatoes i harvest until they are nearly gone and keep a few to plant, but my main crop is the ones from the store. and since last year we didnt do potatoes, we are planting all grocery store potatoes.

in future posts i will update you on their progress!

That's all we grow. Cheaper than the guy at the nursery. Just get them early so they have eyes by the time they need to go in the ground.

Exactly. And where i live, in the fall, you can get 50lbs for $10

Who said you cant? We plant even potato peel from store potatos

I hear it all the time, its annoying. People puck up miss information and spred it like wildfire
