Firewood on the brain🔥

in homesteading •  8 years ago

Here at Beyond Mountains Homestead, our primary heat source is a wood stove. This requires a steady supply of seasoned hardwoods.
Typically we burn oak, ash, maple and wild cherry.

When you heat with wood in a climate that can easily dip below zero degrees F, well, you have firewood on the brain. One constantly thinks of gathering, splitting and stacking firewood. What tree in our woods is dead standing, has a tree been damaged by a storm, does a friend or neighbor need a tree removed for free firewood.

Here are some images of firewood from Beyond Mountains Homestead. I know it is July 1st and near 90 F, but I never quit thinking about firewood !

I just watched your link to the video @bchick ... very cool time saving hack for sure. Thanks for sharing!!

The cold season sneaks up on you for sure! And you don't want to be trying to figure out where or how to get firewood then! You definitely don't want to be cutting firewood then! Lol! We use a woodburning fire place for our main heatsource as well with a little propane heater as a backup and to knock the chill off of the house until the fireplace warms up a bit. Definitely a great post and I wish I had seen it sooner! Grrrr!

Thanks so much 👍🏻

You bet!
