Honeybees Collecting Water

Here is one of my favorite short videos I shot of a few of my honeybees seeking moisture.

Bees will find the closest available drinking water to collect for use in their hive. This can be a small pond, a creek, or even a bit of damp mud like you can see in this video.

The honeybee uses water for a few different reasons including for de-crystallizing honey, for drinking, and my favorite--to create a cooling system for their hive.

In the middle of the summer heat, they use water for evaporative cooling of their hive. They spread a thin layer of water across the sealed brood and then workers fan their wings to create air currents which evaporate the water and cool the hive.

fun to watch. I like how their bodies pulse as they drink water. its like me drinking after playing soccer for a long time on a hot day.

hahahahah, yeah I think its cool to watch as well.

These are big, are they from your hive?

Yes, they are! At least from one of my hives. When I shot this, I had five hives in my yard and several more scattered through the neighborhood at my friends houses.

I hope your neighborhood don't complain about this

I'm learning quite a few fascinating facts about the life of the bee's,
never thought something so small could be so intelligent.

They are really quite amazing creatures.

I've always had a fear of bees- any variety! But it wasn't until I started REALLY gardening that my fear turned to respect.

Pollination and all the good things bees do for our survival.

I live near hundreds of apple orchards so we always have an influx of bees from June through October.

I learned quite a bit about bees in this post- thank you!

Thank you!

@bigpanda thanks for sharing this with us, the world of the bees is so fantastic. Have a wonderful day

Thanks for stopping by--I think their world is pretty fantastic also.

Extraordinary. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about honey bee cultivation @bigpanda.

I'm glad you liked it.

It looks like a documentary! Thanks for the great video. I would like to mention about Einstein's promise :)
"If the Bee Disappeared Off the Face of the Earth, Man Would Only Have Four Years Left To Live"

Such a wonderful quote--I appreciate the kind words. Now if I only had two hours of good video I could make a documentary.

Very good post, beautiful. I already follow you and I invite you to go through my blog maybe something you like and you can support me with your vote.

Thanks @baelish. You got it down cold--bees=good and wasps=I don't like them one bit.

I didn't really like bees... yet, you are actually making me change my mind about them. How the heck do you do that?

It's exciting!

Hahahahaa, this kid looks like an old photo I have of my dad when he was little. I'm going to have to show it to him.

Ahaha)))
Then tell your father from me hello)

Thanks alot for all ur efforts bro much appreciated.

Thats lovely! Thank you for sharing :)

They are so cute drinking water :)

Last summer I had some bees in my backyard, Had a beekeeper removed them because my dog kept barking, To bad because I loved seeing them work

Nice video

Very nice of you to say. Thanks!

Most welcom

Great compilation video..

Thank you.

Bees have an organism that needs fresh, clean water constantly to survive and grow. Therefore, the place you choose should have a source of natural water at close range. Most beekeepers put small pieces of wood or other materials into the water bucket, to help beekeepers even stand on those floating pieces and drink water without drowning

  • bees use water to reduce the temperature, he will spray water and scatter in the land of the cell and then evaporate by pouring a stream of air generated by a few hundred workers working

They definitely do need a water source. I actually keep a small bucket close to the hive, but sometimes they wander and collect from other nearby sources as well.

From the contaminated ponds and from the mouth of sewage water if it was close to the location of the bees
In the summer you have to provide plenty of water

This post very nice..I like your every post..Dtube my best channel..Thanks for sharing this post..Best of luck.

Oh! amazing fact about bees that's why the people of our home town uses this technique of bees to find their hives in the mountains. They sit around a pond and watch closely to the bees when they drink water they straight go to their hives. then the people follow them with their sight and search their hives way up high in the mountains, Now I understand why they do so. really nice information you are sharing keep it up @bigpanda

so nice its shows beauty of nature

This is lovely. With the bee crisis, it's so heartwarming to see people like you are so in tune with them. Lots of honey your way 😊
