For those of us who believe that the skill of fire building is a critical one, we're always on the lookout for life hacks that will aid us in doing that in a pinch. One thing I have learned over the past couple of years of fire building using only sparks is that NOTHING catches fire easier and faster with just one spark than the lint from your dryer filter!
I keep a ziploc bag in the laundry room, and then gently beg and remind my wife and whoever else is doing laundry to please put it into the bag instead of the trash can. Over the course of just a couple of months, I've amassed quite stash, too! And the beauty is, it only takes a very very small amount of lint to get a well-stacked fire going. So a bag of lint this size...it will last a long, long time.
So don't throw that dryer lint away! It is the BEST tinder ever! #SaveTheLint
