Today I had the chance to meet @papa-pepper and a couple of his Little Peppers.

Today I met a shining human being!

I first learned of @papa-pepper through my friendship with @freedompoint. He spoke of papa pepper with conviction and good energy. This was my first knowing of @papa-pepper.

Last month, I myself joined Steemit. I was able to gather my own impressions from what I saw here.

I had known of the plan for a visit to the area, I hoped I might be put on the list of stops. It worked out.

Today was the day! Geographically, I was first on the list. I drank extra coffee while I waited...and I sat to knit.

Noon-ish @freedompoint, Navigator Extraordinaire!, pulled up an it was visit time.

I was meeting a Smiling Human Being!

...who within 3 sentences was sharing his Dreadlocks. Off came the signature hat! Laughs were shared, we were off to a great start.

The entire visit was lovely. It was fascinating to hear about his story while being near him... like surround sound. More info received.

I enjoyed showing the house, walking my homestead, sharing our story, our plans. I was over caffeinated, a bit nervous, and I am sure my normal discombobulated conversationalist self, but I thought it went great!

Once a homescooler, always a homeschooler. The Little Peppers were a breath of fresh life, touching sweet memories as they rustled through the leaves and conversated from up in trees!

Time to go came quick. I would have loved to have shared a meal. Perhaps that will be something for another day.

And they were off to the next stop!

Great you meet a true steemian with a plan in hands.
Glad to be here cause I am learning all kinds of stuffs that I apply.
Keep on steemin'

Thanks...
Happy to help you learn if I can..
Every post of mine has new and improved elements... Always learning.
I am happy you are here Steeming it!

Way cool!! I'm diggin' his locks. I remember my "Sideshow Bob" stage when I grew some dreadlocks back in high school. lol.

Yes! @freedompoint always says mine looked like the lead singer from the Counting Crows in the music video Mr. Jones...so glad they look more like @borrowedearth's now! Haha

@freedomtowrite

Like these?
Baby Dreads!

haha I love them!!

I think I've had about five or six "Sideshow Bob" stages at various points in this life! LOL!

I have ALWAYS wanted to dread my hair, but my corporate business never really "afforded" that opportunity.... perhaps Ill reconsider now that I am technically unemployed hahaha :)

If you weren't so far away I'd offer to help!

@borrowedearth - I think seeing as you have met "the man himself" .... you should convince him to join our awesome little community too ;) :P hehehehe what say you @papa-pepper ;)

I haven't much clout!
Only can ask @papa-pepper to check @steemitbloggers out!

...and a heads up @jaynie i pm'd you on discord ;)

hahaha thanks - well it is the thought that counts they say @borrowedearth ;)

I am just now passing the "Bob" stage for the 3rd time... though I just went the the mull'dread!

I remember those days too!! Ha

Thanks! When folks ask me about putting in dreads I warn them its a perpetual bad hair day...for years!

But worth it.

...and it is work to keep them clean! Anyone remember DreadHead HQ? Was (or still is I don't know) a company dedicated to making dreads on straight hair with tips and tricks and products.

LOL! I know that feeling! I've helped a lot of people dread up, and some even call me Dr. Dread.

These are some of my sets through the years:

And some of my more recent work!

This is fantastic!

A Fun conversation for a Friday!

Oh my... dude these are great!

Wow!

It really was! Thanks for reading!

Awe, this is so cool! I love seeing homesteaders connect in real life.

Thank you. Community is important.

Many of us were raised with the phrase ..."it takes a village."

Its so true.

It was a pleasure driving around yesterday. You seemed perfectly you yesterday! If you were jacked on the inside it didn't show.

That is feedback worth its weight in Love!

Greetings @freedomtowrite!

It's awesome to find more people from Missouri here on Steemit. I'm a city dweller, but I love to dream about perhaps one day getting enough cash to buy some land in the country!

I have you on follow now.

Steem On!

JGV

Not sure if you meant @freedomtowrite or @borrowedearth...lol

But we are both homesteading in Missouri, sharing our stories...may it fuel your desire to work on your dream and I hope make you smile along the way!

Have a wonderful week

Whoops!!! I had all of you from Papa Peppers blog on different tabs. I must have confused the tabs when making my replies. My mistake @borrowedearth!

I got you on follow!

JGV

Heads up @jvginstl... I have nominated you in my b+w photo challenge today!

Thank you very much!

Haha greetings @jgvinstl! Glad to hear from ya even if it was a mistake!

Yes!!! My bad, as the above reply says!

SWEETNESS! Happy you got to meet THE @papa-pepper. :)

LOL - THE? You are too funny!

I am beginning to understand what a big deal this was!
Yikes...and I haven't even gotten to read beyond my own post, busy morning here. I've others days to read about as well!

Pretty much yeah. :)

Definitely a meal next time, or at least a "walking salad bar through the woods!"

I'm all for a walking wild woods salad...I carry a lil wooden bowl for just such an opportunity!

So glad you had a good visit! And welcome to Steemit!

Thank you! I am enjoying the quality of folks I am meeting on Steemit. I am enjoying being creative again.

Thanks for stopping by!

It's a great place to meet people you'd otherwise never meet! And a wonderful exchange of ideas. Papa-Pepper is actually our next door neighbor here and introduced us to Steemit.

I understand that! With a holler or two between us, I have the same kind friendship with @freedomtowrite and @freedompoint. They opened this door for me.

Good neighbors are listed high upon my resource list, they provide the dose of sanity we need as homesteaders!

So true! Some situations and projects truly need that extra neighborly hand. I'm following @freedompoint as well. What a blessing to be near people of like mind.

how fun! lovin seeing steemians meeting each other <3 love that the "signature hat" came off and you guys were connecting!

We need to gather the homesteading steemians of the Ozarks!

Spring Planting Celebratory Pot Luck anyone?

Makes me a little jealous so many homesteaders and steemians are in your area.... any tips on the same thing for Catskills mountains would be greatly appreciated!

yeah let's do it! love potlucks! there's also an event in springfield in april. when the guy makes the main post, i'll resteem it to make sure you see it!

Sounds good! I think I have just decided to host a gathering. Hee hee... Wedding practice.

What a super cool experience @borrowedearth!!! It is always wonderful to meet such genuinely positive and inspiring people... they add energy to life wherever they go and I would have to agree that @papa-pepper is one of those individuals... and you too hon :)

I look forward to the interview!!! Whoop Whoop!

Great piece love!

#steemitbloggers

Thank you! Thank you!
That means a lot.
Distance makes meeting more Steemians challenging.
I would suggest folks make the effort to meet locally!!

Very true @borrowedearth! In fact I have actually been thinking about organising one for Cape Town. Might be a weeee bit far for you to travel though!! hahahaha ;)

Only a weee bit!
Dream big though, right?

Awesome, i have been following the man as well. inspirational!

It was a lovely day! Someone worth following for sure.

I will be stalking you also hahha

I'm so glad you guys had a great visit! Aren't those Little Peppers precious!?

Yes...very precious...did you get to see the art on the hood of the Suburban?

The little rain we had washed it all off!

I had an amazing time over there, and can't wait to share my interview with you to the rest of steemit! Nice "who's next?" edit too! Good use of that photo!

I am nervous to see myself on video... Not something I've done before. I felt that way about an podcast interview I did last fall ...but it ended up wonderful, as I am sure this will.

Thank you for stopping by!

I'm about to post it, I like it. At least it is real! I don't think that I usually do a very good job either!

I liked it too! Its Real!

So cool!

;) Yes! Thanks for reading.

It sounds like it was a lovely time, even with the over cafinated nerves!!!

I think I'd be nervous a lottle to meet @papa-pepper even without coffee... I am very new to the homesteading thing, as in we have property (with an RV and a playground for the little-coconut) but we're not on it full time till june 2018!

Following you

Oh I wanted to pick your brain on Mullein, it grows all over the property, what can I do with it?

Thanks

I'd happily share some about my relationship with mullein.

I've just added it to the to-do list, I'll tag you when I post it.

I am excited to know you'll be in full homestead immersion come June. I will follow to see.

My best advice, once there take a few days off to just be...be there, take it in, give yourself credit for the huge accomplishment of arriving. It is a new chapter ... Give yourself the pause to appreciate the whole before the details sweep you away in the everyday. Hugs

Thank you so much for that... I kind of was picturing myself landing there and running. As weekend worriors, right now we tend to always be busy when we go to the property.

I will however take your advice and spend a fee days meditating, watching and taking it all in to focus and visualize on what will be coming!

I'll be looking out for the tag for your mullein article. We also have tons of Mug Wart, anything good there?

Thanks again

Everything has a good use...I'm convinced of it!
Feels like we have made a connection here.
I am excited to see where it goes.

Thank you for that, I feel it too. Something about this place (Steemit) not like other online meeting spots. I guess maybe with the photos and the comments we can put on eachother's posts... you can really fine tune like-mindedness and tell who is genuine out of the lot.

I'm excited too!

Just watched the youtube video from papa-pepper. Great to see you and be able to put a person to the name!

I must of missed that... I didn't see there was a video

I just watched it now... I was nice.
It is always nice to get more of a experience of someone than just the word on a screen.
Thanks for your kind words.

Looks like a super fun visit! How cool is that, meeting other Steemians?!
:D

Yes...exactly. I hope to meet many more.

This is so awesome. A visit from the man himself and added bonus a few little peppers too. I would love to have a visit from any other homesteader. It gets kind of lonely down here in the south by myself...

Oh! You are South!

My first two years here were difficult. It was a new area for both of us. We were first known as the 'tent people', then became the 'hippies on the hill', now we Belong. It's been a journey.

This area has seen so many homesteaders recently come, and in a single season they go.
I guess we needed to show our what we are made of first. Heart Driven Integrity is what I hope they see.

The issues with folks leaving has me trying to find a way I can help them succeed, here or their next try. I'ts kind of a Pet Project I'm thinking on.

Sounds like a plan. Homesteading is not for the feint hearted.

Saw the post he did earlier, you guys looked amazing. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Thank you so much! It will certainly be a year full of activity to share!

How wonderful to share time with @papa-pepper. Being able to walk your land with fellow homesteaders would be such a joy. So happy for you & congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Thank you.

It is fun to talk with other folks walking the same kind of path you are. Sharing ideas. Sharing Resources. Sharing Life.

LoL I had no idea @papa-pepper had dread locks! He is always wearing a hat or a toque....

Honestly, I prefer the look.

I think the dreads work!
I had no idea either...quite a surprise when the hat came off...

Well he should definitely rock those dreads more instead of covering them up all the time.

Incredible.....im glad to drink a cup of coffee...welcome...

Thanks for the welcome.

I too am enjoying my coffee this morning...

Have a great day!

Wonderful to see Stemains meeting up. Love the dreds @papa-pepper, i've never been able to grown then try a lot in my younger days. I even had someone do it properly with wax and the works; the fell out in a day. My hair it too straight! 💯🐒

How fun! I'm really trying to get a good friend of mine to blog more on here. She'd fit right in with the homesteading crowd, but she's a bit tech-phobic. :) Congrats on your adventures!
