My Sneaky Reapers!

in homesteading •  5 years ago

Hey everyone, I have not done a Carolina Reaper post in ages so today I thought I would change all of that. Approaching Winter we have such an incredible abundance of Carolina Reapers these really are growing really nicely and fruiting extremely well!

A nice article here as per wikipedia: The Carolina Reaper is a cultivar of the Capsicum chinense plant.[1] Developed by South Carolina breeder Ed Currie, the pepper is red and gnarled, with a bumpy texture and small pointed tail. In 2013, Guinness World Records declared it the hottest chili pepper in the world, surpassing the previous record holder, the Trinidad Scorpion "Butch T".[2] Other varieties may be spicier, such as Dragon's Breath or Pepper X but are not officially confirmed with a Scoville scale higher than the Carolina Reaper.

They are gnarly looking peppers that really pack the proverbial punch, taste like no other but if you are a chilli pepper fan I highly recommend adding these 'bad boys' to any chilli sauce for that 'extra' kick. When I make my chilli sauce I simply add all sorts of other amazing chilli peppers I grow and then add 1 or two Reapers, that is all that is needed to add some super spicy-ness to any sauce, yum!

This last pic I thought I would pop in here too The Great African Boabab Tree I germinated a month ago in commemoration of my precious child born 13 Feb 2020, it is growing rather well indeed, I plan to look after it long until he is big enough to do so himself, maybe give it to him for his 18th Birthday, by which is will be a nice big happy health Bonsai tree.
