in homesteading •  7 years ago

You can grow food on patio or balcony!

I love this Greenstalk Gardening system. It is very well designed and can truly grow a lot of food in small spaces. Here's a video that I just made public showing my Greenstalk Garden being constructed and planted in my own garden.

The people at Greenstalk Gardens have been supporters of my YouTube Channel through my Patreon account for a while now. They love my mission and my content. I love their mission to produce a great product to help people grow their own food!

This season I am planting Strawberries, Carrots, Lettuce and one Cilantro plant. The soil mix I'm using is very look and full of organic materials. This should help the garden perform a little better than it has in the past when I used soil that got compacted. Having the right soil mix in a container or raised bed garden can make a huge difference in performance.

I would love to encourage you to watch the video, then share in the comments below your thoughts about this type of garden system. Would you use one? Do you think it would be useful to someone with limited space or mobility? let's chat!

The one planter I want! Cost is the killer, wonder if they would take steem? Shared.

I agree it is a bit of expense, but I just keep thinking about people that just can't garden any other way. The expense would be worth it.

I bit the bullet and ordered 2 along with the base... And yes I got my daddykirbs discount!

No way! That's awesome! I can't wait to see pictures of them in your posts :)

Definitely its very good idea, to make use of little space at home in an effective way, Thanks for sharing such an amazing idea...

Have a good day.....

Oh you bet. I truly believe this type of garden can benefit lots of people with small spaces and limited mobility to garden. Gardening is so therapeutic too.

Awesome video. @daddykirbs

Thank you :)

Great video and write up about the Green Stalk gardening system I'm hoping to save some money up and purchase one of these systems soon!! Hope your strawberries do well this season!!

Me too! We love them, but are terrible at growing them LOL

Hmmm... I guess those do look deep enough to do carrots.

Yes, the carrots I grow in the raised bed never get that long. Maybe they stand a better chance in this super soft fluffy soil.

I "over wintered" a bunch of carrots and I picked on the other day. It was about half grown.
I think it was due to not enough water. I think you put about 1 gallon a day into the stacker gardens, which probably helps a lot.

Yes, my Winter carrots suffered a bit from lack of water too, but they still taste good :)

No, my carrots suffered from lack of water in the summer fall, they seemed to have enjoyed the winter.

Ah gotcha. I planted mine late last Fall.

Hopefully you will have better luck with those plants than the potatoes!!! : - D

Haha, yeah it wasn't the best turn out with the potatoes.

I know...and I remember you saying that it was just an experiment, wellllll not all experiments are a success!

excellent brother, you just gave me a great idea! Thank you. I follow you

Always glad to help :)
