True, guess its the lifestyle and your goals that make you a homesteader. I know we are better off than 80% of the people in our area as far as preps and survival homestead mindset. If things hit the fan today we could live without any assistance for years. I made sure to do plenty of planning ahead. I just wish we were further out and totally off grid but my wife will have no parts of that. lol

Husband and I, I don't think we could live without the internet. He's an IT guy and needs it for work.
Currently our water is well, and well, we did just get our property only 6 months ago. It takes a lot of money for starting and setting up. (C'mon steem don't fail me now!). I'd love to get a windmill and solar. Live in a perfect place for both! But, I'd like to also stay on-grid, just in case.

Good thoughts. My mindset is small scale if we loose power. There are so many things I don't need. I have a couple back up solar panels in a faraday cage along with many other goodies just in case there is an EMP. I don't think outfitting a whole house system is needed and probably would be out of commission after an EMP. Well water is good but make sure you have a backup hand pump for it. As for on grid, nope I could leave that too. Yeah i'm using the internet now but wouldn't really care if it was gone tomorrow. My life does not depend on it for sure.
