HOW TO PREPARE YOUR OWN LIQUID SOAP

in homesteading •  7 years ago

Great Steemian thank you for this visit to my blog today.

Recently I was opportune to take part in a seminar organized by Centre for Entrepreneurship Education of a higher institution in my neighborhood.

The seminar simply tagged Do it yourself class gave the participants a rare opportunity to acquire the needed experience empower themselves economically by venturing into any of the topics which were not only taught theoretically to them but were also performed practically before everyone.

Topics handled in the seminar includes, how to produce liquid soap, hair cream, disinfectant, germicide, cakes, egg roll and Meat pie.

Soap is one of the basic needs of every home and we consciously or unconsciously spend much in providing this need as it arises.
Soap comes in many shape, forms and colours, likewise its prices and quality.

Today am going to share about how to produce liquid soap.

It is interesting to note that the materials needed for this process are not scarce as they can easily be obtained from industrial chemical shops which abound in most markets around us. It also important to note that these chemical are not really as expensive as most of us thought.

I will try my best to present the production process in an easy to follow and workable manner for everyone.

Materials for 10 litres soap

Item Quantity

  1. Natrosole 1 cup

  2. Texapol ¼ kg

  3. STPP ¼ kg

  4. SLS ¼ kg

  5. Soda ash ¼ kg

  6. Sulphonic acid ½ litre

  7. Fragrance 1 bottle

  8. Glycerin 1 bottle

  9. Colorant (your choice of colour) 1 wrap

  10. Preserver 1/8 kg

Please note that these measurements could be obtained at the chemical shops as most of the dealers are experienced and knows the right sizes of bottle where measurements are stated in bottle.

Equipment needed for the production.

1 big bucket or basin of about 25 liters capacity, measuring cup, a long stick for stirring, nose cover and hand cover for safety purpose.

(The container used here is more than double the size of the expected yield to accommodate the product when it starts foaming)

Warning: Please don’t add water to chemical as it could cause explosion, you rather add chemical to water.

Preparation Method

  1. Put on your hand glove and nose cover

  2. Pour 10 litres of water into the bucket or basin

  3. Add the ¼ kg Natrosole into the water and stir for 45-50 minutes

  4. Add your Soda ash (cleaning agent) and allow to settle for about 10 minutes

  5. Add the Texapol (Thickener) into the mixture and stir for 10 minutes

  6. Add your SLS (Foaming agent) and stir for another 10 minutes

  7. Add the sulphonic acid (foam booster) and continue stirring

  8. Add your STPP (cleaning agent) and stir harder

  9. Add your colorant, glycerin and fragrance and continue stirring

  10. Add the preservative and stir well

  11. Cover the mixture for 18 hours

Congratulations your liquid soap is ready. You can pour them into smaller containers and use or sell if you wish. This liquid soap can be used to wash clothes, plates, cars etc
