Defining: On Grid, Off Grid, Going Off The Grid, & Boon Docking Concepts

in homesteading •  7 years ago

This is how my friends and I define: On Grid, Off Grid, Going Off The Grid, & Boon Docking

There may be other definitions as defined by other people but this is how most people I know do so. Feel free to comment about your idea of what defines these.

By defining them accurately in such away the communities that partake in them can agree on then we establish a meaning for them. And by doing that we help to better define laws and regulations and codes that may or may not affect those of us living in these ways.

Nice to see ya made the move over here... We also have D-tube here.. Better than YT.

Thanks. I am only here to show troy goons I am better than he is. I don't expect to earn anything here though. I prefer my own website fixedbydoc.com though this place is interesting.

trolls don't survive long here Ryan...

Do you see me trolling? No. and troy is the troll.

I did not say you are a troll just saying they do not last long here..

Then troy should be gone soon. Hey I followed you by the way.

I don't do videos so much because
but I'm interested in the topic.
I'm particularly interested in confabulating off grid and nomadic which would of necesity include tiny houses (mobile) and/or bug-out

Which brings to mind sanitation.
What are your thoughts on a sitdown shower( using a 'shower-gun) with a composting toilet init.) Like say in a van, trailer or boat?

What are your thoughts on a sitdown shower

A sitdown shower with toilet (composting or otherwise) is called a "wet bath". Searching that term might give you some ideas.

Showers are relatively rare in nomadic contexts because they require relatively large amounts of water, even "navy showers".

Sponge baths (washrag and basin) or baby wipes are quite common.

many rv's come with those type of showers these days.

ah..but there is a new thing..
a high pressure hand held shower head that used minimal amounts of water..
like...a couple of pints..

I removed the faucets from my thrift store sink and installed only a dish sprayer with 6' hose. It reaches outside the van's sliding door so I can wash up or rinse things outside. The 12v water pump (already installed) provides pressure.

Dunno about high pressure but it works for a navy shower.

How about camper vans? Thats where I live and stuff

I ripped out the bathroom and built my "jungle room" in the back instead

that would be boon docking if you live in a van ;)

Scrolling text videos really aren't a very good use of bandwidth. It'd make a great blog post, though. :-)

you are welcome to post any type of blog you wish here. i post what i want as well.

You are right, of course.
