Hello Steemit friends! Here I am again with a sunny atmosphere! I want to share with you what I had been doing for the past few days. I had been writing a lot of posts and they were all in drafts. I was not able to deliver to you exciting posts since like I said, I had been occupied at home. My hands were too full.

Today is my parents' 26th anniversary as wedded couple as what I had mentioned on my previous post. With that, my mom was so excited for it that she really wanted to do an overhaul in our home and invited some of our friends. I was assigned to some tasks. I really wanted to evade my responsibilities, but since I am jobless, I am thereby obliged to do so. We do not really celebrated festivals since our family is not Roman Catholic, but we tend to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.

So here are the things we did in preparation for later's activity.

Painted the ceiling

I swear it was not easy to do so because I am just 5'1 feet tall. I needed a high chair. I was scared of course because I fell once.

Rain water has been leaking from our room. We have gutter for water to pass through but because our neighbor has trees, the leaves stagnates the gutter causing the water to pass through a different route. It took a toll on our ceiling for the bedrooms. I could have opted to cut of our neighbors tree.

The water leaking was not that good thus leaving a dirt on my bedroom wall. I ended up painting unruly strokes. Not good.

So, how did I go over it?

Clean the surface area. So I made sure it is clean so that dirt would not mix with paint. I also made sure to smoothen the surface with papel de liha.

Use flatwall enamel as base. I used flatwall as the base paint the ceiling because according to my brother, that's the way it is.

Do not worry if it looks to thin, the second coat will do its job.

I suggest you use roller brush and not the type of brush I used since mine is very time consuming.

That is actually my room. So was done with the first coat.

I waited for few hours til it dried and put the second coat.

I also painted my closet with white to make it look neat. One thing I learned upon growing up is not to experiment with your room unless you have the complete materials needed. Also, I learned not to start painting, not until you covered all of the stuff in your room with scratch paper or newspaper. I ended up spilling some painting on my favorite dress which was so expensive for me when I bought it.

Also you need to make sure you wear bandana to protect your hair. I got mine spilled with some paint. I also got my nose and hands painted. Dear, common sense is no so common for me.

So basically I ended looking like an inexperienced painter, which is what really I am. It has been two days too since I got paint near my right eye and it us still there because it hurts when I try to get rid of it on my eye lashes.

My hands were pretty dirty too. Before, I used to get rid of it with thinner but that is very unhealthy for the skin. I just washed mine with soap.

Kaching! Kaching! So my parents were able to save from hiring a professional painter. Haha.

I also fixed my stuff in my room especially the oil paint tubes that I used during my last painting session. I had been hoarding a lot of oil paint so I decided to pile them properly inside an organizer. I might ask a carpenter to make a specialized container or cabiner for my art materials (computing how much SBDs I need to make. YAY).

Repaint (not repent) the chairs with varnish

Meanwhile my brother was tasked to repaint the wooden chairs outside. He soaked it with water first then used papel de lija to smoothen its surface. After that, he started putting varnish with varnish.

They now look good as new and not like 20 year old wooden chairs!

Picked flowers for display in our garden

I took some orchid flowers and baby's breath. I also decided to rearrange the flower arrangement that my dad make (he just put the red roses with baby's breath), which I find very traditional (no offense meant though).

Don't they look nice? I used an old water container for the roses since I do not want to go over traditional vases.

Cheers! Tonight is going to be a long night (with me probably washing the dishes). The house, especially the living room looks good now.

Or so I thought!
