I spent the early part of Sunday editing the 150 or so photos taken at the greenhouses and writing the post.
We’d gotten about 4” of snow overnight, enough so my husband was out with the plow, tractor, and snowblower moving it. He had a problem with the tractor not starting but managed to resolve that. He’d gotten about ½ of the snowblowing done when the new cable broke.
It was pretty cold out there so he quit for a while and came in to warm up. Later on he went out, replaced the cable with the spare we had, and finished up.
He didn’t cleanout the chicken pen, just put leaves on top of the snow. The hens were happy with that and went out.
I’d refilled the mirror wreaths, etc. so they’d have something to do up there, in case they didn’t got out. He said all he could hear when he took the snowblower back to the barn was Thump! Thump! Thump! as they pecked at the roots. He’s deaf enough he may not be able to hear the xylophone notes.
I periodically fed the wood stoves, keeping it nice and warm inside as the sun was very spotty in appearing. I read and napped in the afternoon and made chicken tetrazzini for supper.
Lazy day for me….
