Big garden - 1 section fence finished crop February 2020.jpg

On Tuesday you can see it wasn’t sunny and nice out. It finally got warm enough around 1:30 so I went out and finished the first 10’ section of fence line I’d started.

On Monday when I was working out there were were 2 male bluebirds squabbling over the birdhouse overlooking the Big garden. A chickadee came over and sat on the lowest branches of the magnolia tree and watched me, commenting on the work. A nuthatch also came over to see what I was doing. On Tuesday 3 Canadian geese flew over, heading north.

I cleaned off and dug the next 10’ section, the last of the really bad ones. It was getting cold again and I had to cook supper, so I cleaned up and went in to warm up.

This 3rd section was weeded last year but the fence line wasn’t cleaned out. It should not be so bad. I checked the weather to see when the rain was to start on Wednesday and the forecast had changed. The rain was to start Tuesday night and go through Wednesday, then turn cold.

It looks like I won’t be doing any more garden work until late next week.

oh my goodness. I forgot what early spring looked like when you don't live in Canada! I can almost smell the earth and spring time scents in your photos. We just had a big snow storm and we are snowed in. I have to call someone to plough us out because our machine broke down.

This is a ridiculously early spring, even for here! And my husband says there's more coming by the middle of the week.

My back went out, apparently 2 bulged discs on Thursday so I've been in hospital since then. But he said it's to rain with the warmth, so I couldn't be outside anyways. My turn for the bad back this year. Sigh....
