Puttering on Monday - December 23, 2019 @goldenoakfarm

On Monday morning, after a good first day back at the gym, I worked on the yard map for a few hours. I was filling in the area between the driveway and the Big garden. I also kept the laundry going.

Then I finished my Julie Andrews book and got ready for appointments mid afternoon. I hoped we’d get back in time to move snow behind the Tonka garage.

I don’t know how big the pile was last week when my helper friend checked on it. But it was supposed to be mid 40’s on Monday and when we left, it had just entered the 30’s.

Traffic was as bad as we expected so close to Christmas and we didn’t get home until just as the sun was setting. It now read 45F outside. I dashed out, collected an ice chopper, my trusty garden shovel, and a snow shovel and went to do battle.

The ice chopper was next to useless, but my trusty shovel was just the thing. It easily sliced off big chunks, right to the ground and I could move these with the snow shovel. I’d gotten it half done when my husband came out and started doing the chopping while I shoveled the chunks out of his way.

The door now opens, there’s a place outside to put the stored chairs and I had just enough light left for photos.

The mail brought the first of my seed orders, from High Mowing.

Tuesday my helper friend will be here and we will be doing amendment and supplies inventory. Then I’ve got present wrapping to do. So my day will be busy.
